Ceramicist shaping stoneware by hand in a studio

Why We Do This

Every studio we work with could sell to a big-box chain. They don't.

RML started with a simple frustration: most "home decor" is designed to be forgotten. Made to a price, not a standard — then replaced in a year.

So we went looking for the makers who still do it the slow way: throwing their own clay, milling their own oak, dyeing their own wool. We buy direct, in small runs, and put their name on every piece — no house-brand relabeling, ever.

What you bring into your home should say something about how you live. That's the whole idea.

— The RML Team

We don't chase trends. We chase the kind of object you'd still want on your shelf in twenty years — the kind you'd hand down, not throw out.

The RML Standard

Four things every piece has to earn.

Made in small batches

Never mass-run — most pieces cap at under 200 units.

Direct from the studio

No distributor markup between the maker and your home.

Heirloom materials

Stoneware, solid oak, brass, wool — nothing laminated.

Considered packaging

Undyed cotton and pulp fiber. No foam, ever.

How It Works

From studio to shelf, in four steps.

Discover

We find independent studios still making things the slow, exacting way.

Vet

Every maker is reviewed for materials, craft, and how they treat their people.

Small-Batch

We commission short runs — usually under 200 pieces — so nothing feels mass-produced.

Deliver

Shipped straight from the studio to your door in considered, low-waste packaging.

Craft Vs. Assembly Line

Molded By Machine vs. Thrown By Hand

Big-box vases come off an assembly line by the thousand. Ours are thrown and glazed one at a time, in runs under 200 — no two finish exactly alike.

Polyester Fill vs. Undyed Natural Wool

Most throws are synthetic fill dyed to trend. Ours is undyed wool boucle that ages the way natural fiber should — softer, not shinier.

Distributor Markup vs. Direct-From-Studio

Retail lighting passes through 3-4 markups before it reaches a shelf. We buy directly from the studio, so more of the price goes to the maker.

A printed pattern sits on top of cheap cotton. Woven linen carries its texture all the way through — it only gets better with washing.
